Tsujiri – Matcha at its finesse

Tsujiri – Matcha at its finesse

Mr.Butter and I were leisurely strolling on Dundas and we kept seeing people passing by with a matcha ice cream dessert in their hands. I want! Not sure if I actually said that out loud. On a second thought, I am quite sure I did. The search did not take long as I noticed a line forming in front of an unsuspicious boutique.

The area is small. Only a handful of seats is available. Every time I passed by, there was always a line. When we actually decided to wait in line, we were in luck – the line just became shorter! But beware. There is one line to order and another line to pick-up your order.

It was about 10pm when we passed our order and many of their items were sold out. So if you really want something specific, be sure to come during the day.

Just a little background of Tsujiri to justify their long waiting line. Tsujiri is a 155 year-old tea brand all the way from Japan! That is quite spectacular! To survive this long, their matcha must be the best grade!

This expectation is not wrong. Their ice cream did not skimp on matcha (reason why it costs 8$ for the sundae). If you like very milky and sweet matcha flavor, you will not like this. Any real fan of matcha would love this. The mochis in the sundae were great! Glutinous!

Would I want this every week? Maybe not because I cannot afford a 8$ sundae every time. But as a matcha lover, just maybe I’ll splurge.

Kenzo Ramen on Dundas street

Kenzo Ramen on Dundas street

After a marathon, the best way to recovery is getting some carbs and electrolytes from ramen. Did I run a marathon? No, Mr.Butter did! (He did amazingly!) Sansotei Ramen was closed on Sunday, so we eyed for the next ramen shop – Kenzo Ramen. (I just learned that Kenzo Ramen has many locations – this one is located on Dundas.)

Gyugyura – Japanese curry

Gyugyura – Japanese curry

This mustard yellow painted restaurant cannot be missed while walking on Dundas. I quickly looked at it and saw “Japanese curry”. Japanese curry is not the typical curry. Its taste leans towards sweetness than the typical curry where it has more cumin and turmeric.

Ma Poule Mouillee: Portuguese chicken at its finest

Ma Poule Mouillee: Portuguese chicken at its finest

I never understood the hype behind Portuguese chicken, especially when I tried Romados (not that impressed, but I blame my commute, where I had decided to bring it all the way to the South Shore before consumption) and found nothing special.

My sis was back for a visit, and obviously she needed her poutine fix. I wanted to bring her somewhere new, but with decent poutine. Mr.Butter suggested Ma Poule Mouillee. I was reluctant and confused. I asked for poutine, not some freaking chicken! So I searched online and learned that they served one solid poutine! I have to see this!

So the journey of oversize meals begin…

3734: I come for Lunch!

With a great brunch experience at 3734, I raved about it to my colleagues. Curiosity was so strong, that they’ve decided to lunch there on a workday (oops, 2 hours lunch – hey, it was a Friday!).

3734, please don’t let me down! My food opinion is on the line!
