When I think of affordable pub, I think of Les 3 brasseurs, McKibbins, Burgundy Lion, La Cage aux sports and others. It never crossed my mind that it could be in an upscale yet money friendly setting. When I was introduced to Brasserie Harricana, I couldn’t tell it was pub from the outside. Their drink menu is extensive, with all you can imagine description for each beer. For a non-beer drinker, it actually sparked curiosity. I randomly chose a few based on flavor their description and I was marvelled. I adore the idea the half a pint of beer is served with a matching price. It allows tasting different kinds without emptying the wallet. As for the food, it has a pub concept menu with a twist of modern play. A perfect example is this dish that I ordered.
Harricana’s Special. Basically, a sugar shack meal! Meat pie, fries, coleslaw, ragout, beans and beets! So many choices on one dish. Not spectacular but definitely comforting. Brasserie Harricana made me appreciate beer. This is significant when I don’t usually fancy beer.
