Biiru: Where Totoro can be drunk!

I am on a roll with izakayas. Maybe I was bitten when I was traveling in Vancouver. But I love it!

I thought Kinka was the only worthwhile one on Sainte-Catherine. But, on the complete opposite end of Sainte-Catherine lies Biiru, another wonderful izakaya to be discovered.

Although situated on the extremity of downtown, it is nicely tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. We ate at the terrace, and I felt I was at the Mile-end.

The menu was exciting and the cocktail menu even more so! It is a necessity to try Totoro, a drink named after the great creation of Hayao Miyazaki. Don’t worry, I did not become a pig or travelled to a parallel fantasy world after.

Like any izakaya, the dishes are meant to be shared. For 3 girls, we ordered a total of 6 dishes. That was enough to fill in the hunger of an after-work stomach. Not quite yet full, but enough to continue our evening activities.

Out of the meals I tried, I highly recommend Suzushī Wakame (citrusy seaweed salad) and Saumon Bonbons (caramelized salmon).
