Shu Uemura Tsuya skin review and journey to healthy and glowy skin

I have used Shu Uemura Tsuya skin Youthful radiance generator for a good 2 months and a half now and am loving it.

It’s a serum that claims to have many benefits. Let’s forget what it promises. Instead, let’s focus what it did to my skin.
For those who didn’t know, I’d been struggling with really bad skin back at the end of 2010. And I would like to officially say that it had all been cleared out at the end of 2012!
I would try so many products. But they were all a failure; what’s worse, some would actually aggravate my acne problems. They were acne that would not really surface, that just stays within your skin, that would never really mature. My forehead was getting oilier and oiler too!
I was desperate and frustrated.
Well I decided to go back to my basics, what I have always known my skin to be. Dry.
So I stopped all exfoliating and cleansing agent (read way too many reviews that say how it helped clearer and healthier skin – well i think, those things are really not for me. and i was too greedy wanting more glowy skin. when in the first place, I had it already.). I only used Shu Uemura cleansing oil to remove my makeup. I avoid any kind of product that will strip the moisture away from my face.
Little by little, I see improvements – but not enough.
So I was determined that my skin is thirsty, it’s suffering of dryness. To fight the dryness, it produces too much sebum. And the sebum gets trapped inside my dry skin, so that’s why it’s never able to get out! Resulting, lots of bumps on my skin!
So after hearing the new Shu Uemura new launch skin care product: Tsuya skin, I had high hopes that this serum can balance out my skin again.
Well…It did!
The first 2 weeks, my skin calmed down. I noticed my skin was getting less and less oily. After 2 weeks, I barely see any bumps at all. But of course, this is with the help of a good moisturiser as well.
But i really think Tsuya skin really helped initiating the balance. It somehow was able to retain enough moisturiser on my face throughout the day.
It’s been almost 3 months now, and I am still using it almost every day. The days when I don’t use it, I feel like my skin is having troubles again. Without it, I feel my skin would absorb the moisturiser but at the same time, half of the moisturiser is evaporated into the air.
I highly recommend this serum for those like me, have dry skin, and is looking for a serum that actually does help the moisturiser longevity and balance the skin condition.

It also claims that it evens out discoloration. I don’t think it does that…did not see any improvements on past acne spots.

Although it’s a bit pricey, but so far, it’s the serum that has been the most effective! Why spend on something that doesn’t work at all?

I still think i can use this product for another month or 2. And I would definitely go back to Holt Renfrew to purchase another bottle! 🙂

Review: Maybelline Volum’ Express The Mega Plush Mascara

I got sucked into buying another Maybelline mascara! Which one? The mousse one : The Mega Plush.

Once again, Maybelline did not deliver again. I should really give up trying volum’express line. Their brush is really not for my lashes – it’s too big, and can’t get really work into my lashes.

And, for some reason, this mascara line dries up so much – my tube was drying up after one month of usage! And then, the flaking starts! urgh…I wish I could understand how come other people love this mascara so much!

But that’s it for me!! No more Volum’Express!!

Fairydrops Mascara and another hit pan!

Fairydrops is a japanese mascara that is super well known in Japan. I had some ebay dollars from my camera purchase of last year and decided to use it on this mascara.

I’ve only started using it this april…and it lasted until today! I really like this mascara. Not only it has a very fun packaging, it performs very well! It makes my lashes real dark and thicker looking.

However, its price point is not as appealing as my  favorite mascara, L’Oreal Voluminous. I would say both are very similar in terms of performance. So…L’Oreal Voluminous wins again!!

Other than trying out a new mascara…something exciting happened in my beauty world!

DUM….

DUM….

YES!!! I hit pan on my NARS Laguna bronzer!! This is my 2nd make up product to hit pan on! So satisfying!! I think i still have like 3 years to go before i finish this…I think I had this bronzer back in 2009…sigh…Although I do like this bronzer very much, I am bored with it…I want to try something new! But I told myself not to be a super consumerism! To do not buy just to buy/own it!  I shall finish this bronzer (or when it becomes way too passed due to be used), and then maybe get Guerlain bronzer!

Until next make up update….

Review: Maybelline Define-A-Lash and Falsies Flared & Update on Maximum Eyelash Conditionner

Here’s a beauty post. A little break from my food entries.

I feel like venturing out after finishing a few tubes of L’Oreal Voluminous. I picked up Maybelline’s Define-A-Lash and the Falsies Flared Volum’ Express.

What’s with these long names…

Falsies Flared

I only used this mascara for a few days. Why? It was flaking like crazy… Lots of black flakes would drop under my eyes upon application. It did give my lashes volume, but I just can’t stand the flakes. I never had a mascara that would do this to me. Very disappointed.

Until later…I realized that I may have bought one that came from a bad batch because I realized how dry is the product. I think, somehow, the air went into the tube when it was packaged.

Maybe I should buy another one just to testify…however…I really don’t feel like taking the chance.

Let’s move on to our next mascara. Quite a stellar.

Define-A-Lash

This mascara is not meant to give volume. Like the name states, this mascara defines the lashes. What does that mean? It gives every lash nice length and separates ever lash gracefully. This results a very clean look.

In order to have a bit more volume, I would apply multiple layers at the base of my eyelashes without completely passing through to the end of the lashes.

I really love how much length this mascara gives! 🙂

It’s been almost 4 months that I am using this…and it’s near its end as it is flaking like the falsies…Therefore, this reinforces my hypothesis that the Falsies Flared may have been dried up in the package.

Here’s my lashes with Define-A-Lash.

Little update on Maximum Eyelash Conditioner:

I’ve been using Maximum Eyelash Conditioner for 6 months now. The product is fabulous. After 2 months, in order to maintain the length, I only use the product 2-3 times per week. I did not experience any allergic reaction. The conditioner helped my lashes to grow longer but not thicker.

Sadly, it seems like the company has ceased its operations and my product is running low!

I will try another brand and hoping it will yield the same result… (I just ordered Rapidlash…let’s see how does that go)

Lashes should not be downplayed!

Last visit: OPI Mad as a Hatter

It’s time to say farewell to my favorite nail polish. It has become impossible to apply evenly with this nail polish. It is now so thick and dry…

At least I can have a break from the pain of removing glittery nail polishes…

Goodbye my love.
