When I received the invitation to Bolo Bolo’s grand opening, I was caught by surprise due to the great resemblance to my last life blog name – Boulou Boulou. For the whole story, please read it here.
Bolo Bolo specialized in meatballs. When I learned that, I wasn’t to keen on going to the grand opening, but I knew Mr.Butter would be interested. And, I wasn’t wrong. 🙂
For some unexplained reason, I was expecting another hipster restaurant with industrial decor everywhere. I’m not against that concept, but it seems overplayed. Bolo Bolo must have sensed my expectation, and surprised me with its laid-back concept. If I could describe this place with my utmost capability, I would say it is the modern version of McKibbins Irish Pub. Why? A play with modernized drinks and more importantly, a live band. Yes, the live band sold me. I hope it is a concept that would remain after the grand opening.
Disregarding everything, how’s the food – especially from a point of view of a non-meatball fan. I am being very unbiased and fair. The meatballs are FANTASTIC. Bolo Bolo has successfully converted me into a meatball head.
On the other hand, the drinks didn’t win my heart. Their special cocktails were merely a novelty; I wouldn’t order a second one.
Hocus Pocus
Unlike how the name states it, it wasn’t magical at all.
Mac n cheese balls.
These deep fried mac n cheese shaped in a ball were delicious. They were perfectly fried – not too hard and not too soft that the content were droopy. Knowing how difficult I am with deep fried food, a regular reader would understand these balls were incredible.
Le negroni deconstruit
When I said the drinks were merely a novelty, I was especially thinking of Le Negroni deconstruit. Sure, the presentation was fresh and unique. But I would describe it as an IKEA drink. You have to “build” the drink. After the first time, I found the “building” steps unnecessary.
Pork meatballs
These meatballs were tenderly juicy. Hitting all the checklist of a perfect meatball. Although it wasn’t a fancy meatball, the fact that it was a simple traditional meatball in tomato sauce showed how Bolo Bolo really knew how to cook their meatballs.
Smokin’Hot Bloody with a Ball
A very brilliant drink. If you are starving and can’t wait for main meals to be served, order this drink because it has a meatball! The meatball was actually very delicious!
Sweet Mexico
The star of the picture isn’t the margarita, but the fries. Damn those fries got me hooked. They were nicely crispy and spiced. Like chips but slightly thicker. One more word, addictive.
I have to thank Bolo Bolo to have completely changed my mind on meatballs. No doubt, they are the meatball specialist in town!
I would like to add that that Bolo Bolo opens till 4 am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

How I stumble upon Yummy Korean restaurant was certainly unexpected. I planned to go to Guu Izakaya. Little did I know that they were only open later in the day on that specific day of the week. So, I let luck guide me and it led me to Korean town! I was impressed by the abundance of available Korean restaurants. It was very difficult to choose one. Yummy attracted me with its colorful dish pictures displayed on the window, and the motherly woman poster displayed just beside the door. I was hoping for a very cozy and homey meal!
Choices on the menu were not limited. But I had my mind clear and I chose the pork bone stew.
Before the main dishes were served, various side dishes were put on the table. This is what I search for in a Korean restaurant. For some odd reason, Montreal’s Korean restaurants are always so stingy with their side dishes. Although simple, the side dishes were very satisfying!
And of course I had to order a seafood pancake, a tradition.
The amount of seafood was about right. The batter was perfect. The sauce was magical; it made the pancake very savoury.
The pork bone stew was perfection. I usually don’t eat rice, but eating the stew with rice was a must, so I couldn’t resist! The pork bone was completely infused into the stew. This stew brought me back to memories where my grandma would make hearty soup on a hot summer day.
Typical Mr.Butter ordered his usual bulgogi. If it’s meat, he’ll like it.
My dear mommy had a light lunch, soup dumplings. She didn’t criticize nor compliment. From her look, it seemed to be a decent dish without much to write about.
Yummy Korean restaurant offers very student friendly price for their dishes. I was surprised that the bill did not exceed 50$. Without any lie, I thought about the stew the moment I stepped out of the restaurant. This thought still lingers until now.

The day I watched a video introducing Fishman Lobster Clubhouse was the day I was convinced I had to go to Toronto, no matter what. I wasn’t the only one – I saw many friends going to Toronto just to see how epic the food was. Actually, epic is an understatement; it’s overused. I would define it, a King’s dinner.
Before going to Fishman Lobster Clubhouse, reservation is a must. So remember to call and reserve a few days in advance unless you don’t mind eating at odd hours.
Another big important note, don’t do the same mistake as me, bring a big party with you. 4 people isn’t enough!
The number of king crabs and lobsters in display is simply unbelievable. To think that all these sea creatures will be eaten in a matter of days is just insane. But this is the reality of Fishman Lobster Clubhouse. Not to mention, it’s even sickening that all these poor things are looking at us eating their kin.
We had a preset King crab menu with an added lobster. This meal was more than enough for 6 people, and we were only 4. I shake my head.
Steamed crab
So meaty and fresh!
Soup of the day
Nothing special, but it prepared us for the gigantic meal.
King crab stir fried in maggi soya sauce
This was my favorite dish – the sauce was so tasty and was completely infused in the crab meat. It was finger licking goodness!
And the most awaited dish…
And yes, we had duo lobster and crab in Hong Kong style.
These 2 plates killed us. The amount was just endless, and this wasn’t even the biggest tower I have seen!
Steamed crab with salted eggs and egg whites.
This was as delicious as the steamed crab, but much more smoother due to the egg whites.
Fried rice.
At this point, we were too knocked out to even have a taste. Did I regret not trying? Maybe, but I think I made a good decision as I was already pushing myself to finish the other dishes. I think filling my last breath with lobster and crab goodness was better than rice.
We also had a vegetable dish and a dessert – that I forgot to take a picture.
It was just too much food for 4 people.
This dinner was so memorable. The perfect representation of a king’s meal. I will come again, with a bigger party.

In every trip to Toronto, a meal at Ding Tai Fung is a must. I highly regarded as the number one for Siao Long Bao. Things may have changed a bit because, although food was still good, the siao long bao weren’t as impressive as I remembered them to be. It could be because Montreal’s dumplings simply improved dramatically recently.
But overall, I still enjoyed my meal. Next time, I will forego Ding Tai Fung and  I shall visit other dumpling house in Toronto.

Yes, finally! I went to visit my cousin, which means Benny poutine time!
So why am I so overly excited for this specific Benny? The reason is: It seriously beats all other Benny’s poutine!
This Benny is very far, but it never disappoints me. Here are some pictures to show its glory:
This is my definition of the perfect poutine! It has to have crispy fries, squeaky cheese curds and mild gravy.
While the other Benny always have the fries too soaked in the sauce, the Benny at Saint-Felix-de-Valois has mastered the perfect balance between the level of sauce and the level of crispiness of the fries.
Do I need to say more? I’m drooling by simply looking at the pictures.
