Kinton Ramen: Legit ramen finally in Montreal

Kinton Ramen: Legit ramen finally in Montreal

A while back, when someone asked me where was the best ramen in Montreal, I would remained silent. Nothing came to my mind other than Vancouver options. If someone would ask the same question today, I would immediately respond “Kinton”.

It is not hard to believe when Kinton is already at its 6th location. Coming from the Kinka Family umbrella, Kinton started in Toronto. With great success in T dot, they finally brought it over to Montreal creating turbulence to the ramen scene. It is noteworthy to mention the chef trained in Japan before moving to Vancouver where he worked for Kintaro, a notorious ramen shop with non-stop waiting line.

As a part of the media event, we were all given a sample of each broth available at Kinton: Chicken or pork. And each broth has 4 categories:

Original – Full body. Tasted like Chinese soup but 10x more flavourful.

Shoyu – Intense soya sauce. Be ready for the salt attack.

Miso – My personal favorite. Although it sounds plain but it is actually more complex. There are 3 types of miso blended together so each layer can be tasted at once.

Spicy – For the spicy pork brother, some may find it spicy. But for those that love spicy food, this is it, perfect level of spiciness where the tastebud remains intact. As for the spicy chicken broth, it is a play on modern flavors, using jalapeno. Frankly, I was not too used to the Mexican taste with ramen, but nonetheless it was good.

After the broth, there was option for the noodles:Thick or thin (or even gluten-free). Of course, I chose thick.

There were also options for additional toppings, but I wanted my bowl as it was presented from the menu and here is the lovely bowl:

Miso Pork.

It was perfect. Everything I wanted from a ramen. Savory brother with super elastic/bouncy noodles. The pork slices were dreamy – smooth almost at the point of melting in my mouth. At 12,99$, this ramen should be the rage in Montreal.

Here is a picture of Original chicken ramen:

Don’t feel like ramen? That’s fine because Kinton also serves tapas. Their tapas are just as worthy as their ramen. Everything was on point.

Kinton just opened its doors this week. Make room for Kinton during this long weekend! It might be the best thing happening during your long weekend.
