Leche Desserts: Finally tasting the pistachio donut

Leche Desserts: Finally tasting the pistachio donut

So last time when Mr.Butter suprised with Leche Desserts donuts, the pistachio donut was missing. Mr.Butter surprised me again by bringing me to the physical location. I was clueless and caught off guard because the neighborhood for such a donut shop was unusual and even bewildered me.

I was animated by the unmistakable Leche Desserts signage. The space was mostly occupied by the kitchen, where the magical birth of donuts happens. At the sight of the pistachio donuts being displayed and more importantly, available, I was overjoyed. Oh, Cheesecake donuts? Some of these as well please! A quick order and we were out. We couldn’t wait to get out and taste them!

A half a dozen of pistachio and cheesecake donuts. And like anyone can see, tasting came before pictures!

The pistachio donut was generously filled with creamy pistacho. Unexpectedly, the filling was not sweet at all. I had hoped that it could be sweeter because at the current state, it tasted almost bland. Unlike my last experience, the dough was noticeably and unpleasantly greasy. This does not fit the “best donut” title as I had given them from my last post. It saddened me that my once so beloved donut became such a letdown.

Remaining hopeful, I had the cheesecake donut. Yet again, the dough was definitely too greasy for my liking. I felt as if I was eating a donut that had just “sweated” oil in the insides. However, if there was a cheesecake donut contest, Leche Desserts would probably win the trophy. The fusion of cheesecake and donut was on point. I was literally having the 2 in 1. The strawberry jam lightly spread the sweetness to the whole donut. Like all of their donuts, the dough was fluffy like a cushion.

One thing for certain is that Leche Desserts always make fluffy donuts and they are never too sweet. This visit may had affected my high regard for them, but nonetheless, I would choose their donuts over franchised one any day.
