Green Cafe: A green franchise popping up in downtown

Green Cafe: A green franchise popping up in downtown

After a recent of review about Mandy’s, I was told that Green Cafe serves just as a good salad if not, better.

I was curious and we cannot deny that Mandy’s salad is on the expensive side. If I can have a just as great salad offered at a lower price, why wouldn’t I?

Lalavesi: Akma Cushion F.W. 2016 classic

Lalavesi: Akma Cushion F.W. 2016 classic

Cushion foundation is a popular type of foundation in Korea. This type of foundation was out in the Korean market about more than 2 years ago and the North American market only caught on lately.

In this sea of cushion foundation, I was very confused to choose which one to try from, especially if I had to order it online all over from Korea! This blog, theoutletofmyconsciousness.com, convinced me that Lalavesi is the one.

There are not much reviews out there on Lalavesi but The Outlet of my Consciousness reviewed it in so much details and stated it was her favorite cushion that I was immediately sold.

And here is my contribution to the review of Lalavesi Cushion foundation!

Schlouppe Bistrot Nakamichi: Ramen imported from Japan

Ramen scene just got real in Montreal! Schlouppe Bistrot Nakamichi opened its doors in January 2016 and is bringing their ramen recipe straight from Japan.

If observed diligently, there is “est. 1956” written on their window. But wait, I thought this is new? Then, the waitress explained that the chef worked at Nakamichi in Japan and told the original owner that he would bring it to oversea. And here it is, being realized!

So just how does it taste like?

Peripera Peri’s Tint Water: A better choice over Benetint

Lip tints are popular lip products in Korea. They love to create the faded effect on the lips. The very first lip tint that I owned was Benefit’s Benetint, which came in similar bottle as nail polish.

My experience with Benetint has not been great, but I wanted to discover if it was the Benefit’s formula or was it lip tints in general. I purchased Peripera Peri’s Tint water in Cherry Juice in the hope of achieving red juicy lips!

Peri’s Tint water is not a new product. It has been in the market for many years already and has been listed as one of the best lip tints in the Korean market.

The bottle is very similar to Benetint’s, but the applicator is incomparable. Benetint came with a brush, just like a nail polish applicator and it was not the most effective one. Peri’s tint has a doe foot applicator, which is perfect to handle liquids. The applicator absorbs the right quantity of liquid, therefore I don’t need to dip the applicator back to the bottle for more products.

Like any lip tint in general, the consistency is very liquid, like water. Due to this and the factor that the applicator dispenses quite some product, the tint tends to slide into my inner lips, which then goes on my teeth. This happens all the time, and in great extent when I want to achieve the faded effect look as I would focus on the product on the center of my lips. So, I always make sure to blot the products after application and remove the residue from my teeth. This additional step is a bit of a hassle. Also, the product tends to bleed cover my lips. So application has to be very precise (please see my picture below for an example of sloppy application). But I believe this applies to most lip tints in general.

The positive points of this lip tint are the pigmentation and non-drying quality. The intensity of the color is easily manipulated and one layer of the product is already very pigmented (below is one layer). If a lighter color is desired, I could simply use a lighter hand to apply the products. And I love that the lip tint is non-drying at all. Benetint dries my lips like crazy and my lips feel tingly (not the minty type of tingly but irritation tingly) when I apply it.

I apologize for such a poor application. But it is just to show you that the lip tint is a bit high maintenance. It is not an easy slap on and ready to go. To be flawless, I have to be careful. But please consider that this picture is taken at very close distance and magnified. No sane person in a social environment would ever be that close to me to inspect my lips.

I love to use Peri’s tint on weekends where I don’t put make up, but want to look very awaken. The juicy red lips just brings life back to your face.

Peri’s tint is only a must have if you only have Benetint and hate it. I personally would choose Peri over Benetint anyday. But to say this lip tint would change your lip world would be a total lie!
